The Meisner Technique:
The Meisner technique is currently one of the most popular teachings of acting styles. Sanford Meisner developed this work with foundations from the Russian dramatist Stanislavski and from the discoveries in the Group Theatre in the 1930’s. He expanded and perfected his ideas through decades of instruction at New York’s famous Neighborhood Playhouse. This improvisational technique is an ongoing process, designed to peel away the defensive masks we all practice and get us back to working from our gut instincts to allow a more expressive, believable, powerful artist and person.
